I took a HPT on May 11 and when I watched the pee wash through the window in it, it did not have a pregnant result, so I laid it down and left the bathroom. My daughter went in to check it and asked "if there is a plus sign, does that mean you're pregnant?" I thought she was teasing, but when I looked at the results, I was shocked. We went through the typical emotions: fear, worry, happiness, joy, WORRY, etc. Mostly, I worried about miscarrying again, even though this time EVERYTHING is different, I can't help but think about the possibility. I never stopped taking my Paxil. I have been on it for 7 years and the idea of not taking it terrifies me. The first doctor visit, as I said, seemed very casual and prescribed me Zoloft to use instead of Paxil as an after thought. Even then I knew it would take more than a few days to stop taking Paxil.
I started weaning myself maybe a week later after extensive research and even though there is not enough evidence or proof in my opinion to cease paxil for the pregnancy, I decided to anyway. My dose was 60 mg a day, the max dose, so I started by taking 40 mg a day for about a week, then 20 mg a day along with starting the Zoloft. Probably did that for 4 days, then went down to 10 mg a day, including the Zoloft. That was when I went to the second OB/GYN who was highly recommended and one of the best in our area as he has been in practice since 1981. As I said before, he acted as though I will be "just fine" without anti-depressants. SO after that visit, I stopped the Zoloft altogether. I had already been having very mild withdrawals from the Paxil. Slight headaches, minimal nausea, and dizziness. All could have been withdrawals or from the pregnancy. After stopping the short lived dosage of Zoloft, I continued on my 10 mg of Paxil for another 5 days, feeling more dizzy, more out of mentally, more angry, and feeling the need to rest more. All I know are not attributed to the pregnancy as I had stopped feeling extreme fatigue about 2 weeks before. I read more and more about stopping Paxil and the affects of withdrawals and I really started to get scared.
I am VERY glad I took it, don't get me wrong. I needed it at the time as I was unable to control emotions, outbursts, anxiety and impulsive anger. I was diagnosed at having dysthymia with borderline Bipolar, though it was not even serious enough to address. I was not able to make good decisions or even e happy most of the time. I do not know if there would have been any other way to help me get through it and I am grateful I made it through some of those dark times. But I have truly been happy over the past year for the first time in my life so I am hopeful that the darkness and depression will not return.
About 6 days ago I decided to start taking 10mg of Paxil every other day. That has truly been the hardest so far. on the second day I find it harder to focus, and the dizziness from just walking from one room to the next becomes a chore. I get headaches that make me want to lie down and close my eyes and I can feel that impulsive anger getting worse. I know this is going to sound crazy, when I do something or even think about something that is out of impulsive anger, I feeling whirring dizzying affect in my head. almost like a warning signal from my brain. That was something I used to feel, although not frequently, pre-Paxil and even now I find it harder to describe. Now I am getting that spinning head feeling at any sign of anger in me even just thoughts, but only when the anger is a "knee-jerk" instant reaction to something. God I hope that made sense.
I was planning on stopping altogether by now but on the off days I am feeling so lousy, I am going to give it a little more. By the time the second day comes around, I am practically racing to get that Paxil into my system so I can feel somewhat normal again. One thing I do know is I will NOT put my baby through these horrible withdrawals for his/her first day of life! That is one thought that keeps me able to focus on my goal to quit altogether.
I am terrified, however, of what will happen to my emotions, my thoughts, my ability to not freak out at the slightest problem. And once I get through this pregnancy, what about afterwards? Will I get even more depressed? I know, all these what ifs drive a person insane, but I cannot help it. Last night, I was wanting to take a nap and my fiance said he was going to go to his dad's (where he works) while I was sleeping. Out of the blue I start bawling and begging him not to. As I was bawling, though, I was laughing too at the same time. I knew what I was doing was silly, but I could not control it. I calmed down, and of course he didn't leave while I Was asleep, but I worry that this irrational emotional state is my future. I am aware that pregnancy does it too, but I have not felt those type of symptoms in any of my other pregnancies, nor has this one been very emotional yet. I do hope I will be able to keep updating this. A lot of blogs and articles on other people's withdrawals and recoveries from it have been very helpful to me as I know there is an end to this feeling no matter how bad it seems to get.

When I was younger, a few of my friends had their babies by the time they were 13 and 14. That didnt mean I had to hate them, or follow. You have to make decisions for yourself. be a leader. Over time we grew apart because we all took different routes in life. Sometimes you learn from those that make mistakes around you. they def had to cut out a lot of fun times. But theyve all grown up to be good mothers
